Seasons Of Lulu Island
About Lulu Island

Lulu Island, British Columbia is the largest island in the group of islands on the Fraser River. The other islands include Sea, Mitchell, Twigg and Deadman. The city of Richmond nestles between the Fraser River and the Pacific Ocean, minutes from downtown Vancouver. Lulu Island contains the main part of Richmond.

The Vancouver International Airport has been located on Sea Island since 1931. It is Canada's second busiest airport with 15 million annual passengers, just behind Toronto's Pearson Airport. This airport is Canada’s connection to the Pacific Rim with flights daily to most Asian countries, as well as most major airports around North and South America.

Richmond is well known for its farms and fishing. Richmond has more than 100 historical sights and attractions. It is home to Canada’s largest commercial fishing fleet, the second largest Buddhist temple in North America, six major shopping centres, gourmet restaurants and year round touring and eco-adventure experiences.

Richmond is within each reach of the U.S. border, major highways and ferry terminals. It is the Gateway to Super, Natural British Columbia and offers an enviable list of

“things to see and do.”

Due to the berry-picking seasons in Richmond, Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries and Blackberries appear on many breakfast menus. Autumn brings a spectacular backdrop to the cranberry harvest - the countryside is a vibrant red sea of colour. Richmond produces 80% of the cranberries grown in Canada.

The Salmon Festival held every July 1st, attracts thousands of visitors. First held in 1944, this event is one of the oldest festivals in British Columbia.
